ECB Natwest Groundforce Weekend – 24th & 25th March

ONE LAST PUSH!

So, after several weeks of herculean effort by the committee and members, we are ready for the The ECB/Natwest Groundforce Weekend.

We are one of only three clubs across the country to be nominated to be an ECB Showcase Club, so it is a one off and it won’t happen again in a hurry.

Visiting the club, we have England and Hampshire cricketers, local and national media, ECB members, Hampshire Cricket Board members,  Natwest sponsors and other local representatives.

The event is open to all members of the public who wish to join in with volunteering, with children being able to play games in the nets and ‘the stinger’ as seen below.

What we need to try to do is getting the visiting numbers up to around the one hundred mark if we can. This will mean dragging along family members, friends and anyone else you can think of, even if it is for just a few hours.

The effort that has gone into this deserves to be supported with big numbers on the day, so come rain or shine, get as many people along as you can, as it is a great day to showcase the club and get potentially new members involved, particularly youngsters.

I am not going to thank everyone just yet for their support regarding this event, as there are too many, however, if you are one of the members who have not been able to commit too much time to this project due to work and family commitments, don’t feel embarrassed, just please come and lend a hand on Saturday, it will be great to see you.

So, if you are reading this as a member, player or a relative/friend of a club member, do your bit for a community club and throw your weight behind this event, on Saturday in particular.

Several people have given up a lot of their work and personal time to get this show on the road, so they deserve a big turn out; please back them, as they have played a huge part in securing the future of village cricket in Oakley for both seniors and colts.

Not a lot more I can say now except…see you there!

Let’s go for it.
