It was glorious day to watch Cricket. The sun was shining and it started so well for the U11 Oakley squad, with Dan taking a wicket with the opening ball of the game.
Another two wickets fell for Ben and Remi, Alex ran an opponent out, and the team worked hard in the field to contain the strong batting of the opposition. However, they were left with a formidable task for their batting.
Undeterred Alex and Ben stepped up and did a stirring job opening the batting with some great calling and Alex getting a 4. Onela and Jacob also made the most of all chances and with some inspired calling, and a 4 from Jacob, increased the score.
Also worthy of note was Dan and Ed’s innings, who ran EVERY POSSIBLE BALL no matter how close the call was! In addition, Dan also got a 4. However, the gulf was too great and Oakley were second again. Still, the sun was shining and the inaugural Oakley Cricket Day was in full swing by the time in was over, so great fun was had by all.
