Oaks v Knight’s Valley – Pre-Season Friendly Preview

The Oaks’ pre-season campaign continues this weekend with a mixed team facing Knights Valley from the southern section of the Hampshire League. Weather looks fair but cool, promising ample game time for our squad. Matt Burrell will open with debutant Joe Marlow, who impressed in nets after being introduced to The Oaks by student buddy Nick Green.

Youngster Steve Savage (73) comes in at 3, with Josh Carpenter aiming to warm up for the season at 4 after a disappointing knock last week. The middle order is eager to make runs, with DJ seeking redemption for leaving his first ball catastrophe last week. Paddy Saines and Will Cheyney showed good form last week and will be looking to build on it, while Nick ‘Britain’s Strongest Man’ Green is keener than ever to become ‘The New Brad’.

Alex Brundle, Stef Kaltner, and young spinner Alex Holman fill the late order spots, all expecting to bowl. The bowling lineup will be led by Stef, with AB and Josh Carpenter likely to partner him. DJ, Alex Holman, Will Cheyney, and Joe Marlow provide spin options, with Nick as a backup if thing get really desperate.

Knights Valley, established in 2010, are relatively new to the league. Despite ups and downs, they’ve steadily grown and are an inclusive club. Their standing suggests an evenly matched game, providing valuable practice for both teams. Regardless, they’ll receive a warm welcome on their first visit to ‘The Theatre of Scenes’.
