Oaks 13’s Triumph in Nail-biting B3400 Derby

The nail-biters keep on coming for the 13’s, this time a short trip to Overton ended with a win off the last ball.

A superb opening spell of bowling from Joby and Caden brought 3 quick wickets.  The excellent bowling and fielding continued with wickets for George and Ted, a terrific run out by Ted (again), and a brilliant one-handed catch from Jake.  We took a wicket from the last ball of the innings with Overton reaching 99 all out.

We set off on our run chase very well and were soon well ahead of the run rate with 4 of the top 5 batsmen retiring.  Overton are a very good bowling team with no weak link at all and they began to take a bit of a stranglehold, drying up the runs for 3 overs.

With 6 runs needed from the final 2 overs we were still in the driving seat but we couldn’t get the ball away.  Some strong running meant that 1 run was needed from the last ball and captain Joby steered us to victory.

This win moves us up to 3rd but, most importantly, the improvements continue game on game.  A very satisfying win dor The Oaks!
