Latest Club Update!

With time flying by and the new season Just a few weeks away, things have really been ramping up around the club.

Last week there was club activity almost everyday, with either training at Colts or Senior level, as well as indoor

matches on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Jeremy, Andrew Ferguson and Alan North are doing really well with the colts and have been appreciative of the help coming from the likes of Scotty and the younger members of the men’s sides.

Potts (Mark Potter) organised a really good session on Wednesday evening and once again it was great to see the U15’s joining in with the sessions.

Those who want to see some of Wednesday’s session can go to Gravy CC on YouTube to view the stump camera.

On the field of play, Vodkas lost on Tuesday, the Jokes beat the Blokes on Thursday and the 15’s beat Old Basing on Friday, with notable performances from Brett King (45 no) and Phil Chapman with a match winning 3-14.

Off the field Des Coulter stood up and agreed to attend the Colts League fixture meeting. Thanks to Des for doing this and thanks to Jeremy for convincing him to join in with what is, in effect, a bun fight.

Down at the club we have had some great enthusiasm with regards to getting it spruced up in time for the new season. We have begun the internal painting, flattened the old bonfire area and erected the nets, courtesy ‘Mr Net’ Lance Van Dyk.

Although the turn out has been good, there is never too many, so if you  haven’t been down there yet, please come and do a bit. We are there every Saturday from 10:00 AM.

And finally…

It is now time to start paying your subscriptions for 2017. It is £70:00 for adults and £35:00 for Colts and students.

Please, where you can, encourage new members to join at either colts or senior level; they will be made most welcome by the committee and the players.

You can pay this by cash, cheque of by BACS. If you need the bank details email Peter at holcroft@cray.com

That concludes the latest news at OCC. Hopefully, before I write again, we will have news about the donation of a club defibrillator and our application for a grant to get us much needed pitch covers.
