In Form 13’s up to Second

An excellent team performance on Friday evening against Hartley Wintney saw the Under 13’s go second in the league with one to play.

Bowling First

Bowling first, we restricted Hartley Wintney to 101 for the loss of 6 wickets.  It was great to see the very promising Dan Saines promoted from the under 9’s; a big step up.

Dan opened the bowling with captain Joby and it was great to see the way in which he was welcomed into the team.  Wickets were spread evenly amongst the bowlers and a couple of good catches were taken.

The Reply

In reply the top 4 batsmen really took off.  Openers Joby and Jake put on 38 in 4 overs, with Jake playing the shot of the day with a lovely crunch through mid wicket.  Ted and Caden then came in and picked up from there, both hitting several boundaries.

At 90 from 8 overs the game was effectively over and the win came after 13 overs with some good singles and running from the remaining batsmen. As we head into the last game of the season on Monday (weather permitting) we lie in second place and an outside chance of winning the league.

If anyone fancies popping along to the club on Monday to see the 13’s in action please do.
