A first Saturday hat-trick of the season… unfortunately not the sort that gets your name in the papers.
Depleted numbers resulted in three games, three defeats. A clean sweep, if you like that sort of thing.
The 1st XI battered at Whitchurch. The 2s battled gamely but were a bowler and a batsman short, eventually coming second against Binstead. The 3s produced a decent effort with the ball but discovered that runs remain a fairly important part of cricket.
There were a couple of bright spots amongst the carnage. James Bayliss out injured for a season and a half hit a well-made 50, while Joby Beatty put in an excellent all-round performance in the 2s.
Other than that, it was one of those days where the scorebook is best quickly hidden and spoken about rarely.
Onwards.
