This week’s honours board features a proper mixed bag of elegant accumulation, controlled aggression and Will Rabley apparently deciding that running between the wickets was an unnecessary administrative burden.
Dan Beckell led the way with a superb 93, while Joby Beatty and Will Cheyney both made 58. Mike Tiley also produced a patient 52, before Will Rabley arrived, faced 13 balls, hit four sixes and briefly turned the game into village cricket’s answer to a drive-by shooting.
With the ball, Dan Beckell and Ollie Rabley topped the wicket-taking with three apiece, although Ollie’s economy suggests the wickets were collected during a particularly expensive shopping trip. Joby Beatty, Dan Jones and Harry Tucknott all picked up two, while Alex Rogan’s 3.13 economy was the tidiest spell of the week.
Well done to everyone on the board. Runs were scored, wickets were taken and, in Will’s case, balls were dispatched into neighbouring postcodes.
