Great Start for the Ladies

Oakley Ladies enjoyed a fabulous afternoon in the glorious Hampshire sunshine, with the first outdoor game of the season. A friendly against Hook and Newnham.

From the outset, Oakley brought energy, teamwork, and just the right amount of mischief to the pitch. The batting and fielding was on top form, but it wasn’t just about the scoreboard—there were moments in the field that had everyone talking.

Michelle then produced a moment of magic with a truly brilliant catch—one of those blink-and-you-miss-it grabs that leaves both teams applauding. It was a game-changing piece of fielding and a highlight of the day.

Jess proved that every run counts, putting in a heroic effort on the boundary to save not one but two certain balls from crossing the rope. Those quick reactions and determined stops kept the pressure firmly on Hook and Newnham.

With the ball, Jenny was in fine form, claiming three wickets and keeping the opposition on their toes. Calm, precise, and just a little bit ruthless—exactly what Oakley needed.

Then there was Jo, who added a touch of flair with a cheeky hook shot that raced away to the boundary for four. It was the kind of shot that lifts spirits and gets teammates grinning.

A special mention goes to Gemma, making an excellent debut. She slotted into the side seamlessly, contributing across the board and earning a well-deserved Players’ Player of the Match.

Fantastic game, lovely opposition and a welcomed win. Not a bad way to start the outdoor season ladies!
