Indoor Updates

It has been a busy start to 2020 in the prestigious Dummer Cricket Centre indoor league. The Tuesday team have struggled this year but were relieved to post a victory versus Fleet last week. It is a very tough league without much respite or variable opposition and the lads have not enjoyed it quite as they should.

The Wednesday and Thursday Leagues have been far more enjoyable with great competition and some really tight matches going on. George has turned things around since taking one of the Wednesday sides and DJ’s other Oaks team is also doing well. They play each other this week in what will be feisty little affair featuring plenty of one upmanship. Both teams play good indoor cricket, so it should be entertaining.

The Thursday team is going head to head with Wherwell for title after beating them last week in a spicy affair. Wherwell are edging it by a couple of points but The Oaks could reduce that deficit with a couple of good wins. If they are to win it, they will have to do without captain, leader and all round legend, Bob Lethaby, who is out for several weeks with an injury he doesn’t like to talk about.

Overall, the indoor season has been good fun and is a great way to keep the players in touch with each other over the winter months. Without it, it would be long break without playing.
