First XI Denied By the Elements

The First XI were denied a handsome victory over a weakened AWE Tadley side today as the cloud, wind and rain moved across the region.

It was a day when the batsmen made hay with Gerry Dique, Dan Sumner, Tommy Holbrook and Clive Welsman all amongst the runs, however, it was Jimmy Bright with a spanking 81 not-out who was the shining light in a good batting performance.

Bright Light on a Cloudy Day: Jimmy made an excellent 81 Not Out

Jimmy was denied a maiden test century when captain, Darrell Dimond, declared after 40 Overs, an unusual decision, but potentially the right one with the dark clouds gathering.

The declaration asked AWE a question that could not be answered as the rain began and never relented, leaving the Oaks frustrated when a sound victory appeared likely.

Up the Oaks!
